A new ionosospheric radar was installed in the geophysical observatory

A state-of-the-art DPS4D-type ionosonde was installed in the framework of the Cosmic Effects and Risks project (PI: Kiss, László). The new radar equipment will be applied for monitoring the planet’s plasma environment, and also for observing the condition and the dynamic processes of the Earth’s ionosphere. By joining the Global Ionospheric Radio Observatory (GIRO) network, the observatory becomes an active participant in the international space weather surveillance system with access to global aeronomical research data.
